An undeniably cool toy July 19, 2008 Davey 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had already bought a couple of McFarlane Halo figures before I bought this one, so I already knew that the articulation and presentaion (armor detail) of the ODST would be pretty good. However, I've found that each McFarlane Halo figure has their own unique fault to them. Some can't stand up on their own very well. Others have limbs that fall off easily. And others have armor plates that should just be ignored, they fall off so quickly. The fault of this ODST figure is that he can't hold his weapon very well. Sure, he can hold it at his waist or mid chest, but he can't maneuver his arms around the chest plate so that he can look through the scope of his battle rifle. There are other flexibility issues in his waist and legs, and they are all because of the armor. This is bothersome, but the way that the ODST is presented, with incredible detail, including his height which is a head shorter than his Spartan Super-Soldier comrades, is very impressive. Overall, this figure has some articulation issues, but is an otherwise incredibly enjoyable action figure and desk prop.
Great Collectible July 19, 2008 A. Schroeder (Columbus, OH) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As Comic Book Guy would say, "This is not a 'toy'...it's a scale model replica." Yet even given that, the McFarlane Halo figures are becoming notorious for their lack of pose-ability and general difficulties in gun-holdingness. Such qualms aside, this is an amazingly great looking figure. It trumps the Spartan ODST by a mile in regards to detail/"coolness." The accuracy of the figure is not appreciable in online photos; had I not seen it in person, I'd probably slough it off in favor of another Stalker. This is quite possibly the pick of the litter in this release. I've seen almost all of them in person - this is a ringer.
WTF McFarlane July 17, 2008 Alexander Hannah 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
ok the overall body of the figure is great. it stands up easily and is verry posable... unless you want the toy to hold the gun properly. the gun is too small, has no hole for the finger to go into, and the arms cannot hold the gun correctly. seriously issuing a recall on this thing for the gun would be nice.
