Amazon.com Product Description All-Star Baseball 2002 features all 30 major-league teams and more than 700 players with lifelike facial textures for superb graphic detail. A special Cooperstown Hall of Fame team includes Reggie Jackson, Mike Schmidt, and Nolan Ryan. The game features play-by-play and game analysis from Arizona Diamondbacks Manager Bob Brenly and his former national TV partner Thom Brennaman. You can turn back the clock with classic uniforms for each club--the '62 Mets, for instance--and enjoy all 30 current MLB stadiums. Each features active dugouts and bullpens, real-time scoreboards and Jumbotrons, and stadium-specific features such as the waterfalls at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The game includes 130 unique player batting stances, 50 pitching deliveries, and more than 1,500 motion-captured animations. Future-throw technology allows you to make incredible catches and throws as never before. Other features include an innovative 3-D batting interface and power/contact swing selection. Season awards include the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Gold Glove. General manager mode lets you trade, sign free agents, and draft players. Other game modes include exhibition, season, World Series, home-run derby, and batting practice. Seven authentic stadium camera angles give you a TV broadcast view. Features exclusive to the GameCube version of All-Star Baseball 2002 include two new stadiums--Safeco Field in Seattle as outfitted for the 2001 All-Star Game and Puerto Rico Stadium--and features updated graphics for many other stadiums, including PNC Park, Miller Park, and Oakland Coliseum. You can now change fielders and control checked swings. There is an all-new CPU defensive assist option and broken bat technology.

Best game while it lasted July 6, 2003 I loved this game. YOu could play seasons, (all of the home page of All Star Baseball 2002) I just got in to season and you can trade, I had the best team, but I found out my game was scratched (I scratched it) and so now I'm getting All Star Baseball 2003. I would get 2003 for the BEST baseball game for gamecube.
good for when friends come over but not season play February 28, 2003 There are a lot of things about this game that are great: the players batting is very realistic, the commentary is clear and applies to the gameplay, and the players remind you of the actual people they represent. However, the gameplay is among the worst in baseball video game history. Running the bases correctly is an experiment in futility. Hits that should clearly be a double (off the wall, in the gap) inevitably end up with the runner being thrown out at second because the game stops the player at first and you have to madly press on the gamepad to get them to run to second, which they do inevitably, but too late. Fielding is inaccurate for the outfield. Players stand under where the ball is dropping and it bounces in front of them. Also, every time I play in the season mode, the game ends up letting the better teams from that year (especially the mets and yanks) score 12 runs. These are great teams, but not that great every game. Anyway, I was sorely disappointed with the season mode for all of the details mentioned. But the game is a lot of fun for a buddy to come over and play with. If you are looking to just mess around and play a video game once in a while it's not bad at all, especially for a reduced cost (I would say the game is worth about [money]), but stay away if you want to have a long term investment in a fantasy league.
Good game November 27, 2002 Fun game to play I play it almost every day. I like because I'm a basball player. It could have been just a little better I think good holiday gift.
Good play . . . bad errors September 6, 2002 anonymous (Las Vegas, NV USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game has wonderful graphics right down to the mascot. However, glitches in the game make it hard to really enjoy the game. Such as players running through walls to catch foul balls. Batting and pitching are pretty simple. If you can get past the glitches this game is fun and entertaining. Trust me this game does not play on didactic platitudes.
Good, but extremly flawed. August 12, 2002 lenny (Albuquerque, NM USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
... There are plenty of options includiong full seasons, trading, roster creating, creating player, exibitions, and all star games. There is defianly a lot to do.Now in the actual game it is quite fun, especially with more then one player but you will have to overlook serious flaws to do so. Numerous fielding and batting errors can seriously derteriate the games funness, but not too much. There is still a lot of fun to be had making your own team and taking them to the world series. So, anyfan of baseball, on a limited budget, should defiantly pick this up, despite it shortcommings.
