Amazon.com Review 'Tis the season for an extra spring in your step... especially if the bases are loaded and your pathetic excuse of a swing plopped the ball at the pitcher's feet. Even if you haven't been up to bat for a season or two, Triple Play Baseball should whip you back into shape in no time. The series debut on the next-generation system packs the punch everyone expects with accurate player models from the 2001 team rosters, highly detailed renderings of all 30 major league stadiums, realistic lighting and shadows, smooth camera transitions, and a few choice gameplay enhancements to boot.EA Sports tweaked the interfaces and fielding control to pop the offensive and defensive experience up a few notches. The pitcher/batter interface is updated, allowing players to control a greater range of attributes--from stance, batting angle, and power to pitching angle and speed. In addition to standard play modes for one or two players--Single Game, Season, and Playoffs--Triple Play Baseball features a Big League Challenge mode, challenging 12 Major Leaguers to a home run hitting tournament. Throughout the game, Toronto Blue Jays manager Buck Martinez and Sean McDonough deliver color commentary and play-by-play narration in the series' fine form. --Eric Twelker
Amazon.com Product Description Triple Play Baseball brings hard-hitting baseball action to life by taking advantage of the raw power of the PlayStation2. It's officiallylicensed by Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association, so included are all the Big League teams, players, and stadiums--even the newly built Miller Park in Milwaukee and PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Three-time National League Manager of the Year Dusty Baker provided design input, resulting in an authentic gaming experience. The improved pitcher-batter interface features pitching and batting cursors and a visible strike zone. Players will enjoy the enhanced fielding control with one-button throws and power sensitivity. Toronto Blue Jays manager Buck Martinez provides color commentary, and Sean McDonough handles the play-by-play. Chuck D, Vitamin C, and Fastball laid down the grooves for the soundtrack.

Easy, but so what April 19, 2003 Kevin W (Oak Park, IL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really liked this game. It's true, this game is pretty easy once you get used to it. You can hit up to 8 home runs in a 9 inning rookie game, but not always. So what if this game is easy, it's still tons of fun. It's true, it's unrealistic, but not to unrealistic. It's like NFL Blitz, easy but fun. What I really enjoy is hitting homeruns (which is really cool) and trying to throw no hitters with my pitchers. I finally got tired of this game after about playing 3 seasons of 30 games + playoffs and bunus games. But, I started playing it again when the baseball season started. So overall, this game is tons of fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. I would reccomend buying a used version.
So many glitches and NO FRANCHISE!!! May 11, 2002 Nath3001 (Lansing, MI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well, let my start by saying this game should not be bought by anyone at any price. The game play is completely unrealistic. For some reason, it's easier to get a hit off of Pedro or the Rocket than off of some loser like Pettitte. You can NEVER walk, making it less fun, and there is no way to bunt for a base hit. You can't move in the batter's box without starting the runners sometimes thanks to the direction you move, and occasionally the game freezes up. The funniest thing I found, is that Matt Perisho throws a 110 mph sinker. It's completely ludicrace. The guy can't even throw 90. There is no franchise mode! This has to be my biggest gripe. Why couldn't they add some farm systems and a franchise mode? How hard would that be? Overall, once you play a couple warmups, you can win every time, especially against the best pitchers in the game. Have fun blowing 30 bucks if you want to. Go Tigers! I still have faith in you!
Best baseball game to date March 14, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Triple play just keeps getting better! Could take a few pointers from All Star Baseball 2003, whose players look so much like the real ones. Would be nice if you had old school uniforms, players, and stadiums, but overall the best one yet. It's a lot easier to hit, which is a lot more than I can say for ASB2003, and High Heat. If I want to play a game where it's hard to hit I'll go join a real league! My only complaint really, is that it's hard to stretch singles into extra base hits, and it's too easy to steal.
I like it... January 1, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Triple Play Baseball is a fun game that has a few problems with its realism. The main problem I have noticed(and everybody else who likes pitching duels has noticed too) is the game is definatly too hitting oriented (I once hit 5 home runs in an inning after the other team hit 2 or 3 off of me). The only way to reduce the incredible home run and hit totals is to move up the difficulty level. After doing that I usually enjoy scores like 5-3 or 6-5, however, there are still occasional slugfests and 15 hit games. The pitching side is fun and realistic enough for me, the strikeout total reaches about 8 or 9 with a good pitcher like Pedro Martinez, but drops to 3 or 4 with someone not so good like Rollando Arrojo, or Tim Wakefield. The fielding is not so great because you often do not control the nearest fielder and have to switch, wasting valuable time. That leaves graphics and sound, both of which are enjoyable and well done, especially the graphics which blew me away when I first saw them. Overall I like it and am eagerly awaiting the next game in the Triple Play series in which , hopefully, they will have fixed the few problems and mistakes in this game.(P.S. Where's Ichiro?!?!)
A pretty good game December 31, 2001 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is very good except for one thing. Home Runs are too easy! The graphics are some of the best I've seen in my life! The rosters are perfect and the player's characteristics (faces and windups, etc.) are so realistic! It isn't the greatest game ever made, but I still think this is a game you should own!
