5 out of 5 stars Best MLB Game Ever!   October 5, 2004
P-Dubs (Cleveland OH)
This is by far the greatest MLB game ever! I own the Game Cube and have played and even own a baseball game for it (All Star Baseball 2000), but this one is far superior to the rest. If you are an avid baseball fan or are just looking for a game to pick up and play, GET THIS GAME!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great for Little Leaguers   June 4, 2003

With some higher resolution games popping up, I thought this one might be swallowed up and lost. However, that was not true. As most kids will tell you, usually indirectly, it is the game PLAYING ability that they like. This one retains that. Even for adults. The playing is realistic and allows a good amount of variability. The background noise of the crowd is low fidelity, yet it sounds very real (which it should). The announcer is clear and realistic. Generally, pleasantly surprised that it plays so well.

4 out of 5 stars Grand Slam   April 17, 2003

When Nintendo released their Nintendo 64, they took such a very long time to finally develop a baseball video game. Other systems at the time had great games that invovlve the Great American Event, but not Nintendo 64. When they finally unveiled Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr. it took on a life of its own. Nearly a year into suspension and development in the video game industry, it became anything but oversaturated. In fact, it was worth the wait in fun.

The 1998 release consisted of all the Major League Teams at the time of the lineup. Still, the game included some brilliant graphics and a style to call their own. The graphics might seem a little flawed with their facial expressions, but the frame rate is fantastic. The game also includes a few added bits and pieces to the mane, including a home run derby, season play, World Series play, or exhibition. The game also includes vocal commentary from Ken Griffey Jr. himself, and a little bit of rapture in the mix. In exhibition mode, you can play not just against any team, but also with any stadium other than the home stadium, which makes it a little bit interesting. The game also includes a couple of special codes, including getting a home run automatically, every time Ken Griffey Jr. steps up to the plate, and even a code that gains access to special teams, including Angel Studios, the company production team that made this game.

It is just a shame that most other sports games for Nintendo 64 seemed like they were flawed from the start, but with Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr. it is within a class all by itself. Although many people don't sell this game or Nintendo 64 anymore, it is nice that you can get this any way that you can. Still, I prefer this over any other baseball game released for the Nintendo 64.

5 out of 5 stars Really fun baseball   July 24, 2002

This game is really fun when you're a home team and you hit a homer. Then fireworks come out in center feild. When you get a double play and it's three outs they say "fantastic play".When you get to the World Series and you lose you could be lucky and get a trophy.

4 out of 5 stars The ongoing game   July 11, 2002

This game is one of the greatest games I have ever played. It's great because you never are too good. No matter how much you trade, or how hard you play, you never have 0 losses at the end of the season unless you are a sore looser and turn off the game right fter you win befor the game can save. It's either your bullpen, your pinch hitters, or your starting lineup. If you like baseball, this is the N64 game for you.
The only reson that this game dooesn't get 5 stars, is because sometimes your catches and hits don't always go where they should. Sometimes I don't hit the ball square on the bat, and it's a home run. The very next batter I hit the ball square on the bat, but it doesn't even go half way to the fence. It's the same with the catches. The fielder reaches out his glove to catch the ball, when the ball is about 5 feet away from it, the ball magically disappears into the fielders' glove. I hate it.
