| Customer Reviews:
An effectively condensed history of the Yankees July 19, 2008 Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States(cashbacher@yahoo.com)) Given the high level of their success and the number of great players that have worn the Yankee pinstripes, no book of 48 pages can possibly capture it all. However, it is possible to capture the sense and Fischer has done that. He describes the team, many of the great players and their accomplishments and manages to interject some important facts. Such as Lou Gehrig's illness, Joe DiMaggio's military service in World War II, Mickey Mantle's injuries and Thurman Munson's death in a plane crash. This book is an excellent one to encourage children to read about baseball in general and the Yankees in particular. It will challenge them in a way they will find enjoyable.
Great Book August 3, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I liked that this book gave a lot of information about their best players, like records they broke. I also liked how they talked about the Yankees' best years.
